Star Trek: The Next Generation Season One Blu-ray beams down July 24th

After a teaser release of three episodes earlier this year, CBS Home Entertainment has set a date for the complete first season Star Trek: The Next Generation to arrive on Blu-ray, just in time for its 25th anniversary. July 24th the six-disc set hits shelves featuring all of the first season episodes remastered in high definition complete with recomposited special effects and 7.1 DTS-HD surround soundtracks, as well as a slew of special features including new behind the scenes interviews and featurettes on the HD upgrade process. Check after the break for the press release with a list of episodes and features, plus a video preview of what the new effects look like from The Next Level teaser in January. Woz: Windows Phone is 'beautiful,' Android 'no contest,' still loves iPhone, ask again tomorrow

When Steve Wozniak talks mobile, people love to listen. Last time we checked in, he was lauding some of Android's finer points, and now he's raining praise on Windows Phone. In an interview with A New Domain, the Apple co-founder was all too happy to share his recent positive experiences with the Espoo / Redmond collaboration. In particular, Woz waxes about how intuitive the interface is, and how naturally apps lead you around. He goes on to say how there's nothing he's seen that isn't more beautiful (than iOS and Android) on the Windows system, before claiming Android is "no contest" when it comes to the interface. It's not all lemonade and roses, however, as he then admits he's no fan of the voice control functionality compared to the other two platforms. When pushed to admit what he uses as default, it's still the iPhone -- two of them in fact -- but Woz's ability to see the best in all mobile operating systems will be sure to further confirm his status as one of tech's most liked. Sony's Alpha A37 and NEX-F3 pose for the camera, reveal more angles, details

Well, well, talk about déjà vu! It was just yesterday that a corner of Sony's 16.1 megapixel NEX-F3 leaked onto the interwebs and now more photos have surfaced, along with a previously unannounced shooter, the Alpha A37 SLT. The pictures come courtesy of Yang Canggih, which says it had a chance to demo the two devices yesterday at Sony's Partner's Conference in Jakarta (curiously, the NEX-F3 post isn't live as of this writing, but Sony Alpha Rumors has the images up). Starting with the F3, the mirrorless camera has lost a smidgen of the curves found on its older sibling, the C3, adopting a slight bit of the angular edges that once made the NEX-7 the badass standout in the lineup. You'll notice that the shutter button and grip have an uncanny resemblance to the 7's, not to mention that it's clearly gained a pop-up flash -- a first for the lower-end NEXs. Past that, the rumored -- and self-portrait friendly -- 180 degree tilt-screen is also present, which'll likely give the C3 an edge over its siblings when it comes to composing shots. Also worth note, some of the buttons on back have been slightly repositioned.

Moving along, those hoping for a successor to the A35 will apparently have their wish granted with the 16.1 megapixel A37. According to Yang Canggih, it features the articulating display from last generation of NEX cams, Auto Portrait Framing (first introduced with the A57), four more effect modes than the a35 (up from 11) and an ergonomic grip in the vein of the A77. Sadly, that's about all that's currently known, so hopefully we'll get an official introduction to the cameras soon. Verizon ICS update schedule leaks: Rezound, RAZR and Xoom being tested now

While there are already vague Android update plans for Verizon-connected Samsung devices, a leaked screen from somewhere within the Big Red bunker has offered up some more details. It looks like the Rezound, Droid RAZR and RAZR Maxx are closest to the upgrade finish-line with testing likely to finish by May 7th for the HTC model and May 17th for the Motorola duo. According to Droid Life, Verizon's Motorola Xoom (you know, the Android tablet) is getting its update direct from Google, but it hasn't been deigned worthy of a concrete release date. A handful of software updates are also pegged for the likes of the Bionic, Thunderbolt, Revolution, Galaxy Tab 10.1 and Xperia Play, but they look likely to be more incremental than outright OS upgrades. For those interested in some new firmware numbers, we've included those update details after the break.

Nintendo aims to flog 18 million 3DS, up to 10.5 million home consoles this fiscal year

All eyes are on Nintendo, now that it has revealed losses of $460 million. Buried in all of the financial paperwork were the revelations that it sells the 3DS at a loss, its plans for digital distribution and its projected sales figures for this year. It aims to flog 18.5 million 3DS handhelds and 10.5 million Wii consoles by March 31st 2013. But wait, what about the Wii U? That figure actually encompasses both old and new hardware, so it is either hoping for a sharp fall in Wii sales or a tough opening for the new baby. It's a bold pair of figures that relies upon how well New Super Mario Bros 2, Animal Crossing and the new hardware capture the public's imagination in a time when people are tightening their belts (especially if they've been using Wii Fit).

Yahoo Says Patents Facebook Bought Were Just To Countersue, Lack Good Faith, Should Be Thrown Out

Counter-countersuit! Yahoo today claimed that the patents Facebook is countering its original patent infringement lawsuit against the social network with "were acquired by Facebook for purposes of retaliation", and therefore violate the U.S. Patent Office's "Duty of Disclosure, Candor, and Good Faith"?and should be diregarded by the court. Yahoo also claims Facebook couldn't legally know enough about its business to know if it was violating Facebook's patents, that several of Facebook's new patents were illegally filed, and Yahoo also filed two more advertising patent infringement claims against Facebook. Facebook responds that "We remain perplexed by Yahoo's erratic actions. We disagree with these latest claims and we will continue to defend ourselves vigorously." If a court agrees that Facebook can't countersue with patents bought specifically for the countersuit, Facebook could be left wide-open in settlement negotiations, and might have to pay Yahoo a hefty sum of cash and/or stock.

3M launches its Cloud Library e-book lending service, hardware and apps in tow

Almost a year after it was first announced 3M's Cloud Library e-book lending service is getting a proper rollout. Introduced today at a beta site in St. Paul, the system is now ready for its kiosks, e-readers and apps to hit the hands and eyes of library patrons. The touch-based Discovery Terminals allow catalog browsing for visitors and selections can be checked out -- along with 3M's eReaders -- like other library materials. Already have a mobile device? E-books will play nicely with your iPad, Nook or Android device via the Cloud Library app. If you find yourself needing to read a bit on your computer, checked out items are compatible with both PCs and Macs as well. "With this technology, we are able to offer cutting-edge technology to all our patrons, whether they own their own e-reader or not," said Kit Hadley, director of the Saint Paul Public Library. Rosetta Stone Acquires Kid-Focused Language-Learning Startup GoGo Lingo

Rosetta Stone, for those unfamiliar, are the makers of the oft-advertised language learning software of the same name. The 20-year-old Virginia-based company went public in 2009, and today makes learning software for over 30 languages that is used in over 150 countries. Yet, in spite of its brand recognition, a number of translation and language-learning startups have begun to pop up with savvy online solutions, which has prompted Rosetta Stone to move to boost both its kid-friendly learning options and its digital distribution. In so doing, Rosetta Stone is today announcing that it has completed the acquisition of Los Angeles-based language learning startup, GoGo Lingo. Founded back in 2008 by Afsoun Yazdian, who developed GoGoLingo's proprietary "Playful Immersion" method while at Stanford, a language learning method designed to help kids ages 3 to 7 learn Spanish through implicit absorption.

'I Can't Feel My Face has now turned into I Am Not a Human Being,' Wayne confirms to 'Hip Hop POV.'

It seems like we've been talking about a Lil Wayne/ Juelz Santana collabo album forever. But when the much-ballyhooed I Can't Feel My Face will actually drop is anyone's guess. While Weezy's 2010 jail stint definitely postponed the project, now Tunechi says when he got home, he reached out to his Dipset buddy to finally put their plans in motion.

"I actually got at Elz when I got out and told him, 'Man, I think it's time we really capitalize on that,' " Wayne recalled to Amanda Seales of MTV's "Hip Hop POV" in an outtake from last week's episode.

It's more than six years in the making, but for a time, I Can't Feel My Face was one of rap's most-anticipated projects. Now that Weezy has put his legal troubles behind him, it's Santana who's facing drama after his New Jersey recording studio was raided in January 2011.

"He can't work how he wants to work because they shut down his studio," Wayne explained. "I sent him some music and he didn't send them back in the time-fashion that I work."

Never one to remain idle, Tunechi took the songs that he had set aside for the joint album and repurposed them for his upcoming I Am Not a Human Being II solo LP. "I started putting extra verses on those songs and I've moved on," he confirmed. "Now what probably would've been I Can't Feel My Face, has now turned into I Am Not a Human Being."

During a June 2011 interview on "RapFix Live," Juelz gave his own reasoning for the delay. "It wasn't no one reason it didn't happen. Me and Wayne always was on the same page, musically, as far as friendship-wise," he said. "I'm just happy we didn't let that get in the way of us being cool, being able to do things in the future; we ain't let it get to us."
